I’m Andrea Cumini, born in 1968. I began my career with the Italian State Police in 1987, gaining decades of experience in various operational units, including the Highway Patrol and the Border Police Office.
Throughout my long professional journey, I developed an in-depth knowledge of operational procedures and investigative techniques, with a particular focus on the technical and IT aspects of investigations.
From 2017 until my retirement, I served with the Flying Squad (Squadra Mobile) of Verona, where, starting in 2018, I held the position of Judicial Police Officer.
In this role, I provided essential technical and IT support to all operational units, developing innovative solutions to enhance the effectiveness of investigative activities.
I actively collaborated with the Central Operations Service (SCO) on complex investigations of national importance, specializing in OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) techniques and delivering training sessions on these topics at the Police Academy in Nettuno.
In 2020, I conducted on-the-job training sessions at Interpol’s Rome headquarters for ICAN team personnel, aimed at updating them on OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) methodologies.
At the same time, I contributed my investigative experience and technical expertise to the development of advanced software for social network analysis and encrypted data management.
These tools, distributed nationally and across Europe through Europol, have supported numerous high-profile police operations.
I possess advanced technical and IT skills, with proficiency in operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux; programming languages including PHP, Python, and JavaScript; and database management with systems like MySQL, SQLite, and Elasticsearch.
I am also experienced in data analysis using specialized tools such as IBM Analyst Notebook and in forensic software such as UFED and Autopsy.
Recently, I developed an innovative project based on facial recognition using machine learning techniques, further expanding my expertise in artificial intelligence and natural language applications within the investigative field.
Since November 2024, I have been retired, but I remain actively engaged and interested in new professional challenges that can make use of the extensive experience I’ve gained in investigative and technological domains.
